CAD design & special-purpose machinery
From the first sketch to the manufacturing drawing: we design machines, plants, automated systems and devices – to your specifications, in your CAD system, with one contact from concept to handover.

Design is our core business. Since 1998 we have been developing components, assemblies, special-purpose machines and complete plants in Pforzheim – from development design to plant design, for mechanical and plant engineering, process engineering, medical technology and research. Design and calculation engineers, technicians, technical product designers and a technical writer work under one roof, and Josip Heger and Simon Heger manage every project personally as project engineers.
Whether a complete new development or design to your specifications as an extension of your own team: you receive production-ready 3D models, standard-compliant drawings and parts lists that purchasing, manufacturing and assembly can work with directly. Where strength, vibration or flow matter, the design is simulated first – calculation and design come from a single source.

Scope of services
Special-purpose machinery
Machines, automated systems and assemblies with concepts of our own: from the working principle via drive, fixture and guarding to the interface with the control system – built for daily use.
Device and instrument development
Customer-specific devices and measuring instruments from concept to series production – including scientific instruments for fundamental research.
Technical drawings
Manufacturing drawings to DIN standards, marked with your company-specific information and proprietary notices; 2D layouts and detailed 3D models for manufacturing and documentation.
Hydraulics, pneumatics & cable planning
Drive and control technology is part of the design: hydraulic and pneumatic schematics, cable planning and the integration of the components into the machine.
Procurement & manufacturing support
Structured tendering and evaluation of supplier quotations, technical support during manufacturing, quality assurance and resolution of production issues.
Renderings & animations
Photorealistic renderings and functional animations for sales, trade fairs and promotional videos – straight from the design model.
Manufacturing-step models for complex parts
Very complex parts need a separate drawing for every manufacturing step. That is why each step gets its own 3D model and its own drawing derived from it. Every model builds on the previous step and everything is stored in a clear structure – so later changes are implemented in no time. Views and sections show all steps in a clear sequence and make the correct manufacturing process easy to follow.
- Modelled at mid-tolerance – this simplifies programming CAD/CAM-controlled turning and milling machines.
- Global parameters in an Excel table – several parts access the same values.
- Machining with allowance – for demanding requirements on fit, form and position.
Example: manufacturing sequence with high demands on dimensional accuracy
- Turningwith allowance
- Deep-hole drilling
- Turningstraightening
- Millingwith allowance
- Coating / hardening
- Turningto mid-tolerance
- Finish millingto mid-tolerance
- Honing / smoothing / lapping
Design automation
We automate recurring design tasks with rules and scripts in the CAD system. Variants are created from just a few values, and model, drawing and parts list always match.
- Enter valuesLength and pitch in the input form.
- Model & drawingAdapt automatically.
- Place standard partsThread inserts and rivets – automatically at every position.
- Check & parts listThreads and fits in colour, parts list up to date.
Variant design & configurator
Parametric models controlled by a table or an input form – a new variant is created from just a few values.
Automatic drawings
Views, dimensions and title block are derived from the 3D model.
Placing standard parts automatically
For example thread inserts or rivets – at every matching position.
Check rules & parts lists
For example marking threads and fits in colour and creating parts lists automatically.
Animations & renderings
From the design model we create images and films – for coordination within the project as well as for sales, trade fairs and advertising.
Manufacturing process
Animating a manufacturing process makes complex sequences quickly understandable – and the dynamics of a machine can be analysed in advance.
Explaining functions
A short animation shows how a function works – faster and clearer than any description.
Rendered presentation
For trade fairs and promotional videos: rendered images and films with shadows, lighting effects and reflections show every detail and make the function clearly visible.
How we work
- ConceptIdea, requirements specification, working principle – defined together with you.
- Design3D CAD in your system, drawings, parts lists; simulation where strength or flow matter.
- ProcurementQuotations, suppliers, ordering.
- ManufacturingIn our network of proven partner workshops – with technical support.
- Assembly supportAssembly at partner workshops or on site; large plants spread across several workshops for fast implementation.
- CommissioningAcceptance, documentation, handover.
Tools
As an independent engineering office, we work in our customers’ systems – so the data fits your existing designs and your manufacturing.
- Inventor
- AutoCAD
- SolidWorks
- CATIA V5
- Rhino external product designer
- Keyshot
- Vault
Your design status – in real time
Every change is versioned in Vault. As soon as a revision is released, it is transferred encrypted to your personal project folder – drawings, 3D models and parts lists as PDF, DWG or STEP, on PC, tablet or phone. On request in the other direction too: your review notes reach our designers by the same route.
More about data management & synchronisation →What you get
- 3D models in the format of your CAD system
- Manufacturing drawings to DIN – with your proprietary notices and company-specific information
- Bills of materials for purchasing and manufacturing – linked to drawing and storage location, see Data management & BOMs
- Hydraulic, pneumatic and cable schematics
- Renderings and animations on request
- Operating instructions, risk assessment and CE marking – see Technical documentation
Frequently asked questions
Do you design in our CAD system?
Yes. We work in Inventor, AutoCAD, SolidWorks or CATIA V5 – whatever fits your existing data and your manufacturing. Data management runs via Vault, and you receive released revisions as PDF, DWG or STEP.
Do you also handle manufacturing and assembly?
We design and support: manufacturing runs through proven partner workshops, assembly takes place at partner workshops or on site at your premises, and commissioning includes acceptance, documentation and handover. You have one contact from manufacturing to handover.
Which industries do you design for?
Mechanical and plant engineering, special-purpose machinery, research and aviation, medical technology, process engineering and precious metal processing – from the measuring laboratory in the Airbus A350 to the precious metal plant.
